Though I’m far too chickenshit to actually RIDE a motorcycle, this one my coworker just rode up in might have me reconsidering. The owner describes it as a “rat rod bobber/cafe racer Mad Max thing” and I gotta say that’s a fairly apt description.

It’s the lane splitting I can do without.

Too impractical to justify the cost since I couldn’t use it to commute or haul stuff.

I have my motorcycle license and have a roommate who lets me borrow his bike every now and then. Well he let me take it back home to LA (400 mile round trip) to look at a Porsche I wanted to buy. She was co signing, so I was meeting her at this guy’s place and when I pulled up on the bike, I swear her face was a mix of shitting her pants, completely terrified, and ready to kill her son. But with 70 mpg, she understood but wasn’t happy. Now I just really need my own.

That’s cool as hell

It’s just too much money for something I can’t really use for any practical matter.

I know, right? For the cost of a new Ducati or thereabouts you can have an Isle of Man rated bike from the 20s that’s a mechanically simple, hooting, shrieking two-stroke that looks steampunky as all getout.

Remember, cafe racers make terrible first bikes!

I think an antique Scott is loud enough that people wouldn’t crowd you, and around here I wouldn’t have to lane-split in the least.

That is cool looking, not comfortable, or practical, but cool looking.
